Featured articleDavid "Dave" Schwartz (1953–2016) was a meteorologist at The Weather Channel from 1991 to 2008 and again from 2014 to 2016. Schwartz was well known for his friendly demeanor to the viewer when presenting the weather, calling his style of presentation an "I and you" approach and referring to viewers as "my friends." He began his career at The Weather Channel part-time with only a degree in psychology in 1985, and worked his way up to the position of on-camera meteorologist in 1991 after multiple failed attempts at applying for the position. In the mid-2000s, he developed pancreatic cancer twice and would go on to become cancer-free. He was laid off from the network in 2008 but was rehired in 2014 after years of outcry from viewers. He would develop stomach cancer in 2016 and pass away that year, drawing in scores of tributes from colleagues and fans alike. (Full article...) Did you know ...
